port 80 on Netgear ProSafe FVS318N

Postby ungovernable » Sun Mar 18, 2012 1:02 pm

Here's my setup:

Modem & VoIP supplied by my ISP provider :
SPA-2102 (192.168.1.1) there's some kind of port forward configuration on the admin page
Zhone 6211-i3-200-0DL Router by Distributel

My router, bought a few days ago :
Netgear ProSafe FVS318N (192.168.2.1) router/vpn/firewall

My DVR needing port forward on port 80:
192.168.2.4
My computer:
192.168.2.2

Basically, i have a DVR camera server running on my DVR computer (192.168.2.4). In my DVR there's a feature to remotly view the cameras on internet, through an HTTP server. Currently i am only able to remotly view my cameras through my LAN with the IP 192.168.4.4. I can't view the cameras if i use my public IP, i assume that's because port forwarding isn't configured.

i am using GeoVision software for dvr. I tryed following the instructions found on this website, but my netgearrouter's admin page is definatly not like the screenshots found here.

Thanks a lot for your time !

#1 Current network: Internet -> 6211-I3-200 -> SPA-2102 -> Netgear ProSafe FVS318N -> Your computer(s).

a) The 6211-I3-200 only has one RJ-45 LAN port ( http://www.zhone.com/products/6211/ )

b) The SPA-2102 only has one RJ-45 LAN port and only one RJ-45 WAN port ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SPA2102 )

b) The FVS318N only has one RJ-45 WAN port and 8 RJ-45 LAN ports ( http://www.netgear.com/business/product ... s318n.aspx )

#2 How many free/available/unoccupied RJ-45 LAN ports does your FVS318N have?

#3 In the FVS318N go to Network Configuration > WAN Settings > Broadband ISP Settings (IPv4) -> Broadband Status

#4 In the router at that screen, one of the IP Address(es) might be the same IP Address that is at http://ipv4.whatismyv6.com

#5 If one of the IP Address(es) in there is the same, please report back that fact. If not, with your web browser go to the Gateway and log-in to the SPA-2102.

#6 In the SPA-2102, you should taken to a status screen.

#7 That status screen, may look something like the sample screen that you see at

http://screenshots.portforward.com/Link ... Status.htm

#8 In the router at that screen, one of the IP Address(es) might be the same IP Address that is at http://ipv4.whatismyv6.com

#9 If one of the IP Address(es) in there is the same, please report back that fact. If not, with your web browser go to the Gateway and log-in to the 6211-I3-200 ( As need be, see the user's guide / manaul at http://www.zhone.com/support/manuals/do ... B24-10.pdf )

#10 In the 6211-I3-200 go to Device Info -> WAN

#11 In the router at that screen, one of the IP Address(es) might be the same IP Address that is at http://ipv4.whatismyv6.com

#12 If one of the IP Address(es) in there is the same, please report back that fact. If not, report back that fact.

#2 How many free/available/unoccupied RJ-45 LAN ports does your FVS318N have?

6 ports are used, 2 are free

#5 If one of the IP Address(es) in there is the same, please report back that fact. If not, with your web browser go to the Gateway and log-in to the SPA-2102.

#6 In the SPA-2102, you should taken to a status screen.

#7 That status screen, may look something like the sample screen that you see at

http://screenshots.portforward.com/Link ... Status.htm

In the SPA-2102 i can see my IP adress that i found on http://ipv4.whatismyv6.com/

" Current IP: 216.246.228.*** "

#9 If one of the IP Address(es) in there is the same, please report back that fact. If not, with your web browser go to the Gateway and log-in to the 6211-I3-200 ( As need be, see the user's guide / manaul at http://www.zhone.com/support/manuals/do ... B24-10.pdf )

Can't access it. Manual says default IP adress is 192.168.1.1 but this IP is already in use by the SPA-2102

#1 In the SPA-2102 at the status screen is the Current Gateway 192.168.1.1 ?

#2 If the answser to my first question was a no, then go to the Current Gateway that is listed there and log-in into the 6211-I3-200

#3 If the answer to my first question was a yes: What is the current LAN IP of the Netgear FVS318N?

**

SPA-2102 default LAN IP 192.168.0.1, now LAN IP 192.168.1.1

6211-I3-200 default LAN IP 192.168.1.1, now LAN IP unknown by me.

Netgear FVS318N default LAN IP, 192.168.0.1, now LAN IP unknown by me.

No, it's 206.80.253.197 (that's not my IP)

#2 If the answser to my first question was a no, then go to the Current Gateway that is listed there and log-in into the 6211-I3-200

Can't, that's not a LAN IP. Nothing happens if i try to access it.

6211-I3-200 default LAN IP 192.168.1.1, now LAN IP unknown by me.

Also unknown by me

Netgear FVS318N default LAN IP, 192.168.0.1, now LAN IP unknown by me.

Netgear FVS318N current IP is 192.168.2.1

Ok i found a solution to access my Zhone. I unplugged the SPA-2012 and plugged my computer's ethernet cable straight in the Zhone 6211-I3-200

Now i can get access to my Zhone 6211-I3-200. The problem was that the IP is the same than SPA-2012. Both are on 192.168.1.1 IP

So i changed the default IP of my Zhone to avoid conflict with the SPA-2012. My Zhone's new IP is 192.168.1.3

But as soon as i plug back the SPA-2012 i won't be able to access my Zhone using http://192.168.1.3 anymore...

#2 Change that so it is Internet -> 6211-I3-200 -> Netgear ProSafe FVS318N -> Your computer(s) and your SPA-2102.

#3 In the Netgear ProSafe FVS318N forward the ports that the SPA-2102 use(s), if you want to keep your phone service.

Can you give more details on what i need to do in order to make these changes ? I'm not an expert with networking :/

I changed my mind around, about the directions.

I believe, this is what you should do:

#1 In the Netgear at Router Status, you will see the Default Gateway IP Address of 192.168.1.1

#2 Record down the other IP Address that starts with 192.168.1

#3 In the SPA-2102 go to Advanced -> Router -> Application

#4 Where it has DMZ Settings,

a) Enable DMZ, select yes.

b) Where it has the DMZ Host IP Address, enter in the last octet of the IP Address that you recorded at step 2.

#5 Press Save Settings

--

I will think about what you did and the fix.

In the meantime..

#1 Have your computer is directly connected to this Zhone 6211-I3-200.

#2 Between those two sample screen screens, what does your Zhone 6211-I3-200 look like?

#3 As need be, then connect your computer behind your Netgear router so that you can access the net.

Hello,

#1 In the Netgear at Router Status, you will see the Default Gateway IP Address of 192.168.1.1

#2 Record down the other IP Address that starts with 192.168.1

there's not any other IP starting with 192.168.1, here's a screenshot:
Image

#2 Between those two sample screen screens, what does your Zhone 6211-I3-200 look like?

Here's what it looks like. If you want i can take screenshots of specific pages

Re: port 80 on Netgear ProSafe FVS318N

Ok.

By full bridge mode for my modem combo, I point you to DSLR (dslreports.com) -> FAQs -> Verizon Online DSL FAQ -> Hardware -> How do I use a router with the Westell 6100?

I know to connect directly to my modem combo, since it is in full bridge mode, this is what I have to do.

#1 Disconnect my RJ-45 WAN port router from the modem combo at the RJ-45 WAN port router end.

#2 Disconnect my computer from the RJ-45 WAN port router at my computer end.

#3 On my computer I have to setup a Setup a Static IP that is with-in the same subnet as the modem combo.

ex: Modem combo at 192.168.1.1 with the subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, so my computer has to be at 192.168.1.2 with the subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 (with no default gateway, DNS or WINS - needed).

#4 The ethernet wire that is connected to the modem combo goes to my computer.

#5 Tada.

--

If your modem combo is configured for full bridge mode, if you setup a Static IP with-in the same subnet as the modem combo on your computer and without extra equipment - you would not be able to get online.
-

Anyways..

While I don't know the date and time that you took a screen shot of your SPA-2102, it looks to me like one of IP Address(es) in there was the same IP Address as the site that I told you to go to.

--

For me to get into my modem combo and access the net, that can done several different ways.

#1 My RJ-45 WAN port router has to run third party firmware (like DD-WRT OR Tomato), the RJ-45 WAN port router's LAN IP is changed as need be so that it is not in the same subnet as the modem combo (modem combo at 192.168.1.1, RJ-45 WAN port router at 192.168.0.1), then either:

a) Special Commands have to be entered, into the RJ-45 WAN router.

OR

b) I define in the RJ-45 WAN port router, the modem's LAN IP at the field called Modem IP.

#2 The RJ-45 WAN port router's LAN IP is changed as need be so that it is not in the same subnet as the modem combo, then a hub/switch is added between the modem combo and the RJ-45 WAN port router, then:

a) A NIC on a computer with a least two NICs is setup as the same subnet as the modem combo, that NIC is connected to the hub/switch that is connected between those two points, and then the other NIC remains connected (wired or wireless) to the RJ-45 WAN port router LAN.

OR

b) A second RJ-45 WAN port router's LAN IP is made to be in the same subnet as the first RJ-45 WAN port router, this second RJ-45 WAN port router's DHCP Server is set to disabled, this second RJ-45 WAN router's WAN IP is made to be in the same subnet as the modem combo, the second RJ-45 WAN port router's WAN port is connected to the hub/switch that is connected between the modem combo and the other RJ-45 WAN port router, the second RJ-45 WAN port router is connected to the one of the RJ-45 LAN ports of the first RJ-45 WAN port router, and then in the first RJ-45 WAN router I add a route pointing to the second RJ-45 WAN port router.

OR

c) This RJ-45 WAN port router has to have two WAN ports, one WAN port is set to use the Internet as "normal" (Pure DHCP, Pure Static Public IP, ETC - what ever), the other WAN port is setup to be in the same subnet as the modem combo's LAN IP, and both WAN ports are connected to the hub/switch that is turn connected to the modem combo.

**Update**

You could also.

#1 Put the SPA-2102 behind the Netgear ProSafe FVS318N

#2 And put the SPA-2102 into bridge mode

..As addressed in the thread Bridge mode of a VoIP router and Phones still work? located at DSLR (dslreports.com) -> Forums -> VOIP etc -> Voice Over IP -> VOIP > VOIP Tech Chat the post by DSLR User rblizz (user #540721 ) on 2012-03-28 at 15:11:12.
