could not parse your ip address or gateway

Postby dhall1052 » Mon Oct 17, 2011 5:44 pm

I port forwarded for Minecraft and I then couldn't get onto my friends servers which are run using Hamachi, so I reverted my IP back to Dynamic and then it worked, but when i tried to make the Hamachi IP static again and it said 'Could not parse your IP address or gateway.', I don't know what this means and I have no clue how to solve this problem. Please help as I need to get my server back up.

Thanks, dhall1052. :?

#1 What is the brand and model of your modem?

#2 What is the brand and model of your router?

I don't know about modem but my router is Huawei EchoLife HG520b. I hope this helps. Just say if you need me to find out my modem brand and I'll see what I can do.

Thanks, dhall1052

#1 Log-in to the Huawei EchoLife HG520b.

#2 In that router go to Status -> Service Information

http://screenshots.portforward.com/Huaw ... mation.htm

#3 One of the IP Address(es) under WAN, should be the same IP Address that is at http://ipv4.whatismyv6.com

#4 If not, please report back that fact.

#5 In the router go to Basic -> DHCP

#6 What is the DHCP Range set to?

Please note: I don't care the terms that they use in that router.

For example Client IP Pool Starting Address and Size of Client IP Pool

#7 In the router go to Advanced -> UPnP

#8 If you do not have at least two special computers that support UPnP where you can not define the ports that they use, turn off Universal Plug and Play (UPnP).

A perfect example. At least two game consoles. Any two (Two Xboxes, two Playstations, One Xbox and one Playstation).

Client IP Pool Starting Address - 192.168.1.2
Size of Client IP Pool - 253

I have a playstation 3 and an xbox 360 and a nintendo wii that are all connected to the internet. Does this mean I have to 'Enable the Universal Plug and Play(UPnP) Service'?

#1 Oh, ok.

While you have at least two special computers that support UPnP where you can not define the ports that they use: Do you only use one at a time OR are there times when at least two of them are on?

#2 Do you want to connectable only by your friends using the VPN (Hamachi) or do you want to connectable to other people too?

I pretty much always have 2 on at the same time as I have a brother and I want it to be connectible for other people to as not all of my friends have Hamachi, I don't really get that link and what it is saying though. What do I do?

Thanks, dhall1052

P.S. Thank you for all of your help so far.

Oh, ok.

Precaution / Warning

#1 Be strongly advised if using UPnP, all an user has to do to open ports is:

a) Get an UPnP aware app / system

b) As need be, enable UPnP on their computer.

c) As need be, set the software firewall to allow UPnP.

d) As need be, set the software firewall to allow that UPnP app.

e) If they can, define the ports that they want to use (depends on the UPnP aware app / system).

f) --> Without them needing to know the current user name and password of the router!! <--

#2 A more recent I heard/read about, I point you to

http://www.h-online.com/security/news/i ... 29727.html

By More recent I heard/read about, I mean the issue that users can open any ports that they want to without knowing the current user name and password of the router, I known that for some time.

**

Directions if you want to, have at at least two special computers that support UPnP where you can not define the ports that they use working and you want this app to work (using UPnP).

#1 Enable UPnP in the router.

#2 Consider get that tool that allows you to Run Minecraft as a windows service, since version 0.3.0 (current) attempts to port forward using UPnP.

#3 No need to forward ports manually or no need to use any app that automates the steps.

By no need to use any app that automates the steps, I mean for example the tool from

https://secure.portforward.com/store/pfconfig.cgi

-

If you don't want to get that tool that allows you to Run Minecraft as a windows service version 0.3.0 (current), then maybe for example use http://upnp-portmapper.sourceforge.net/ (or something else like it).
