Port Forward; Router: Belkin f9k1003 Modem: Motorola SBG6580

Postby BradSlam » Tue Oct 18, 2011 8:00 pm

I got new internet through Time Warner so I’m trying to setup port forwarding for uTorrent.

The router I’m connected to through wifi is a belkin n450 f9k1003.

The cable modem is a Motorola SBG6580.

My ip address from the router is 192.168.2.2 So I go into the virtual server and I forward the port I need for that ip address.

Now I think what’s going wrong is I also need to forward the port for my cable modem possibly? From what I understand the router connected through the Cable modem's ip is 192.168.0.2

I don’t know what’s going wrong because I try to forward that port to that ip in my cable modem as well and it still won’t open.

I’m about to lose my mind.

Anybody have experience with these 2 devices or at least running a router off this modem? (the modem has the capability of being a router itself, but Time Warner charges extra for that so I'm using my own router.)

I have disabled the firewall on both router and modem. I don't use any software firewalls. Windows firewall is disabled.

I have it set up so the modem forwards the port to the WAN IP of the router, then the router forwarding the port to my computer. From what I understand, this SHOULD work. But it's not. And...damn. Frustrating.

#1 In the Belkin router go to UPnP OR to System Settings (which ever exist in your router)

#2 If you do not have at least two special computers that support UPnP where you can not define the ports that they use, turn off Universal Plug and Play (UPnP).

A perfect example. At least two game consoles. Any two (Two Xboxes, two Playstations, One Xbox and one Playstation).

#3 In the Belkin router go to LAN Settings OR to LAN IP Setup (which ever exist in your router)

#4 What is the Starting and Ending IP Address?

#5 In the Motorola SBG6580 go to Basic -> Setup

#6 At this time, please do not change any settings.

#7 In the router at that screen, one of the IP Address(es) should be the same IP Address that is at http://ipv4.whatismyv6.com

#8 If not, then please report back that fact.

#9 In the Motorola SBG6580 go to Basic -> DHCP

#10 What is the Starting Local Address and Number of CPEs?

#11 Did you setup the Belkin's WAN IP to be Static, in there?

For example, under Reserve new IP address

a) You typed in the WAN MAC Address of the Belkin.

b) You typed in the IP Address that you desire it, to use.

c) You typed in a host name. For example Belkin.

d) You pressed Add

e) You pressed Apply

#12 In the Motorola SBG6580 go to Advanced -> Options

#13 If you do not have at least two special computers that support UPnP where you can not define the ports that they use, turn off Universal Plug and Play (UPnP).
