PFPortChecker is not installing in either normal Windows 7 Professional or in safe mode. I am the admin.
In both cases I do the following: 1. Click the executable 2. say Yes to the UAC popup 3. Click Next on the installation welcome screen 4. Click I Agree on the License Agreement screen 5. Select the default destination and click Next 6. What looks like a self-extraction screen pops up briefly and the task bar fills 7. A screen pops up with an Install button at the bottom, but then disappears immediately before I can click to install.
I can't get port forwarding to work with my SMC8014WG router and would love to be able to run this piece of software to see if my settings need changing.
You run it and it will make a log of all running processes in plain text that you can copy/paste to me. If you want to do that I'll look through the list and see if I see anything that may be causing this problem.
I've tried installing PFPortChecker 1.0.39 with a custom install without the ask.com toolbar and homepage change. As soon as I press the "Install" button, it doesn't nothing and then closes. No completion window, not popup of success and nothing in the install directory. I'm assuming some logic in the installer is going haywire and not popping up an error about it.
EDIT: Anyone having to follow the below method, only use as a last resort. As of this Edit, the installer should work properly now.
I ended up extracting PFPortChecker.exe and MSWINSCK.OCX, coping MSWINSCK.OCX into the System32 folder and followed up by registering it with regsvr32.exe as PFPortChecker.exe gave an error about it. Pretty simple to be honest, but I don't expect anyone to follow my route.
