I hope someone might have a suggestion to solve my problem. I have this D-Link DIR-655 router and have a new WHS server connected to it along with several PCs. I have Comcast broadband service. The modem is connected to the incoming cable from Comcast and the router is connected to the modem. The WHS server is directly connected to the router at gigabit speed. Internet service works fine for all connected computers and the localLAN works fine between the PCs and server.
I am trying to enable the remote access website in WHS. It uses UPnP to open ports 80 and 443 on the router. As WHS goes through this process I get green check marks that it verifies the router is configured for UPnP, configures the router, verifies that the website is available on the server and verifies that the server is configured for remote access. Then I get red X marks that the router is not accepting website connections and not accepting remote access connections. I've used Port Checker to verify this and it definitely says that ports 80 and 443 are closed.
So I went into the router configuration and configured port forwarding manually to forward port 80 and 443 to my server address and reserved my server address so that it would remain the same. Rebooted everything. Same errors. Port Checker still says all the ports are closed. The Windows Firewall is configured to allow these exceptions but I turned it off anyway to see if that would help. Nothing changed. Same errors.
Anybody have any ideas? Is there something physically wrong wth my router? I have confirm on comcast.net that they do not block these ports.
Thanks.
