Time Warner RR user in NYC

Postby old_forum_lukasty » Sun Nov 30, 2008 1:15 am

I have roadrunner service from Time Warner in NYC. I need to port forward and I have an SMC 8014-SI router(although it also says SMC 8014 WG-SI-TWR on the box) it's on the port forwarding page so I was excited to know i would finally do this, until I got to the un/pw default section. Anyone know the un/pw of this router? The owner's manual says the default is cusadmin/password (all lower case) but of course time warner already changed that and I cannot log in.  I used to have the AMBIT U10C019 and the un/pw was user/user but it was limited access and I was unable to access the port forwarding section. Help please I am trying to use utorrent correctly and this is driving me crazy :(  Should I switch back to ambit or stay with the SMC which is a better router?

BTW sorry for all the questions I am a noob and need help :(

Hi, Do you have a UN/PW for Road Runner?? Try that for the router??

If that does Not work I would give your ISP a Call and ask them what the UN/PW is??

I was trying to work my way around that but I guess I have no choice. Does anyone who has TW in NYC had any luck getting port forwarding?

UPDATE: I called three separate times and spoke to 3 separate techies from TW and they all refused to give me the un/pw for the router. One of them recommended I keep the TW modem and purchase a wireless router on my own. My question is, if I do this will I be able to portforward or do I also need to know info about the modem? Also, this is for my wired pc and I plan to purchase the D-Link DIR-655 Xtreme N Gigabit Router. Would this be ok also for my wired pc or do I also need a wired router? Again sorry for all the questions but I need help and TW tech support sux  >:(  :'(

#1 Because you said that the user manual gave to you the default user name and password, it should also say how to reset the router.

Knowledge Base › What if you forget/don't know the password?

#2 But before doing that, try admin as the user name and cableroot as the password.
