Port Forward with THOMSON TG585 v7

Postby old_forum_sheggers » Sat Oct 18, 2008 10:40 am

Ok, so first up there's no guide to forwarding ports on this site for this router. PLEASE please please will some kind soul do one so I can check I'm doing it right? This site has been my holy grail of port forwarding for some time, but right now I'm struggling!

Second, I think I may have worked out how to do it, but it's still not working. I've set up a static ip. I've set up the game/application to forward ports to with ports I want. However, when I try to assign my computer to the game or application, it won't let me. I select it, and the page refreshes with one of the other devices in the list - it simply won't let me select my device! It will happily select any other device in the list, but obviously they're not my pc so it's no good! Help!

Ok.

#1 Check the IP address and default gateway on your computer.

On most versions of Windows, that means: Go to Start -> Run. Type in cmd and press enter. In the new window, called the command prompt, type in ipconfig /all and press enter.

#2 When you go to the default gateway with your web browser, it should take you to the THOMSON TG585 v7. If it does not, you may have Double NAT present.

#3 Does the screens of your THOMSON TG585 v7, look anything like the other THOMSON router screens provided? If so, which one (or ones) is/are the closest?

This is plenty of questions for now.

Been away, so forgot about this post. Thanks for offering to help.

After following steps one and two, it does go to the Thompson Router.  when I type the dafault gateway into my browser. I'm going to start looking at the other Thompson screens and I'll let you know which ones look the most familiar.

Right, I've had a quick glance and the router screen looks very similar to the screens on the guides for the below routers:

# SpeedTouch585i
# SpeedTouch625
# SpeedTouch716WL

I've not looked at many, but these seem the same aside from the colours. Needless to say, port forwarding doesn't seem to work if I follow the instructions for these routers! Help!

Scratch that, I've sorted it.

To set this router up, you have to follow the same instructions as you do for the Thomson/Alcatel SpeedTouch 585, but there is one difference.

Where for the speedtouch you enter the TCP or UDP ports under 'ANY' in the drop down box on the menu, for the Thompson you can't select 'ANY', you have to select 'TCP or 'UDP' in the drop down menu.

Clear as mud I reckon - if anyone needs help post on here and I can talk you through it.
