Ok i've been racking my brains on this problem for a while now and i still cant solve it, what i'm trying to do is Port Forward to BitTorrent 6.0.3, everytime i test the 34882 port it is always closed; i have setup a static LAN IP address, but when it checks if the port is open it is using the WAN IP address, and because this is randomly generated i cant do it, reboot > new address > fail, and so this is is how far i have got with solving the problem, i dont have a clue how to make a static WAN address i've being fiddling with it for a while now and without a great deal of knowledge in this i am getting nowhere
Summary: How to change my WAN IP address to static? if that is the reason, which i think, why the port 34882 refuses to open. Help would be greatly appreciated, getting kinda fed up with the 20kbs download speeds x(
Hi, You do NOT need a Static WAN ip for any P2P Program to work. but if you really want one you are going to have to contact your ISP to get it setup and it will Cost you a Monthly Fee for the Static WAN IP Address.
But you might have other Problems causing BiTtorent to not work. Are you on DSL?? If so what is the make & model of your Modem?? Do you have any Firewalls, Internet Security Programs or Anti Virus w/ Worm Blocker??
Hi, thanks for the fast reply, i'm on Karoo Broadband and i'm using a zyxel P-660R-D1 Router, have turned off all securtiy/firewall programs etc and still no luck, my DSL mode says ADSL_G.dmt, have a put a few screenshots below if it helps
Of course as i say by the time i reboot to allow the address its changed to a new one :/ /shrug maybe i'm doing something wrong, should i be putting something in the dafult server setup?
Hmm I think I see Altho your Screenshots are Hard to See but in the Port forward Page under Server IP Address you have to put in your Computers Static IP not the External One (87.102). Also Did you setup a Static IP for your computer?? If not Please Read this guide on How to choose a Static IP:
Yes i followed the guide to setup a static IP address for my connection, but my internet seems to be using the WAN ip address generated by the router, when i go to config /all i see the static one i set up, but if i try a website that shows my IP whatismyip.com it comes up with the WAN address. My static IP that i setup is 192.168.1.138, yet as you can see bittorrent is checking 87.102.xx.xx
Edit: Sorry about the pics, made them a bit bigger now
You should be able to assign the Server IP address. From the Guide :
As you see you enter in the Ports and should be able to enter the Static IP for your computer. So try this in the Port Forwarding Page Click Edit and Edit the Server IP Address to your Static IP NOT the WAN IP. Also take a screenshot of the Edit Page.
uTorrent is Showing the Correct IP as it ONly Sees the WAN IP not the LAN IP.
