Belkin N600 F7D8302 port forwarding

Postby old_forum_zanthal » Mon Feb 14, 2011 8:36 am

I've normally had little problems port forwarding.

But this Belkin has me stuck.

First problem:

I was instructed on the portforward.com help for this router to get a Static IP running.  I followed every step to the letter.  But, when I bring up 192.168.2.1 and login to the router config, it clearly says in the opening status that it is running a Dynamic IP

Second problem (caused by the first?):

I use Firewall > Virtual Servers to attempt to forward the port I need, and the Private IP address field doesn't recognize the Static IP that I configured and saved in my Network Connection IPv4 properties.  No matter if I use the Default Gateway or the Static IP I assigned, it either returns with "Invalid IP address" or "Invalid LAN IP address" (it apparently will recognize the Default Gateway as the LAN IP).

Thanks to the gurus for their help.    ;)

Hi, Do you want a Static IP on your PC or Modem??

What IP are you using??

Are you on DSL?? If so what is the make and model of the modem?

Well according to the portforward.com forwarding instructions a Static IP is required with the Belkin F7D8302 ... so I imagine so.

SBCglobal DSL and the modem is a Siemens Speedstream 4100

When you ask what IP am I using, are you referring to the internal IP that I assigned?  I picked 192.168.2.123

#1 Try go to the Default Gateway listed in your Belkin at Router Status

#2 Log-in as need be.

#3 Does the screens of your modem combo look like this

No it doesn't look like that.

It looks like this:

Ok.

#1 That was only a guess as what your Belkin router had.

#2 Go to the screen that looks something like this..

Image

#3 As where that screen is, I don't know - Maybe..

a) the first screen that you see after you log-in into the Belkin?

b) Maybe by going to the word connected in the upper right hand corner ( right next to Internet Status ) ?

That screen is the first one that opens when you login to the router config, I just didn't want to include a screenshot because of all the connection info that's on it.

UPDATE:  The word Connected in the upper right of the router config home screen is not selectable.

Ok.

#1 In that first screen that you see in the router, you should see the same IP Address that you saw at portforward.com where it says Your external IP is

#2 If not, go the Default Gateway listed there.

#3 Does the screens of your modem combo look like this
http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Siemens/4200/4200index.htm

#4 In the Belkin router go to LAN Settings

#5 What is the Starting and Ending IP Address?

#6 In the Belkin router go to System Settings

#7 If you do not have at least two special computers that support UPnP where you can not define the ports that they use, turn off Universal Plug and Play (UPnP).

A perfect example. At least two game consoles. Any two (Two Xboxes, two Playstations, One Xbox and one Playstation).

I'm sorry for not posting this sooner, but this is now a moot point, I'm back home with my PC with a router I know how to configure.

thank you for your time and expertise
