Huawei Echolife HG521

Postby old_forum_jayc2410 » Fri Oct 08, 2010 4:24 pm

I am trying to open a port on the Huawei Echolife HG521, but there is currently no guide for this and I am having problems with it.

Is anyone able to help or is there a guide going to be put on here?

Hi there,
I am not sure what exactly you are trying to do, open internal or external but I will describe what I did in my case hoping that you might find it helpful.

I have TalkTalk router, same model as yours. I created home network and I could not connect from my desktop to IBM WAS and Portal servers. I logged on to my router and went to Basic-NAT-Port Mapping and selected the following:
Customization:
Select Application Radio button and from dropdown select Web Server (HTTP)
Remote Host: 192.168.1.4 - IP address of my IBM server
External start port: 10003 - WebSphere application server port
External end port:  10040 - Websphere Portal server port is 10038 so I specified 10040 to include everything and future listeners if necessary
Internal host: 192.168.1.1 - IP Address of my desktop machine
Internal port: 80
WebServer(HTTP)

Click on Submit, restart your IE / Firefox or whatever you were using and it should work.

I am sure that you will be able to customize the above settings to suit your needs and be up ad running in no time.

Regards
-Mario

#1 If you wanted to allow only 63.168.21.555 to access your web server, you would put in 63.168.21.555 as the remote host.

#2 If you do not want to only allow a certain IP Address to access the server:

a) Leave remote host blank (do not fill in).

b) If you have to fill it in, first try *.*.*.*

c) If you have to fill it in, if that does not accept that then try 0.0.0.0

I'm trying to open up port 14353 on this router. However, when testing the program - utorrent - it tells me that the port is not open. I've set up a static ipaddress too.

Set as follows:

Application - Web Server HTTP
Interface - nas_0_38 (pre-defined)
Protocol - TCP
Remote Host - Blank
External start/end Port - 14353
Internal Host - 192.168.1.3 (my static ip address)
Internal Port - 80
Mapping Name - WebServer (HTTP)

Any ideas where I'm going wrong? Thank you.

#1 If uTorrent is not set to use port 80, in your example settings for the router - it will not work.

#2 What software firewall is on your computer?

Great stuff. Thank you very much.  :)

Had utorrent set to 14353, so changed the internal port number from 80 to that and now works fine. Thanks again.

So, the external start/end port and internal port should always be set to the same? For some reason, I thought 80 was some kind of default internal port.

No.

For example if you had a web server running on port 80 and you knew that your ISP is blocking port 80, you could go like this..

Application - Web Server HTTP
Interface - nas_0_38 (pre-defined)
Protocol - TCP
Remote Host - Blank
External start/end Port - 14353
Internal Host - 192.168.1.3 (my static ip address)
Internal Port - 80
Mapping Name - WebServer (HTTP)
