2Wire 3800HGV-B and ATT U-Verse

Postby old_forum_jdlevy » Mon Apr 26, 2010 12:37 am

I have two slingboxes for two recievers on my network. I can configure one of them for Internet access away from home with Application specific port forwarding but I cannot figure out how to get the other slingbox configured. I know I have to use another port (the slingbox wizard suggests 5003) but it seems I cannot use the slingbox application name again. How can I do this?

I think I know the answer.

#1 In your 2wire, enable UPnP if that exist.

#2 If UPnP does not exist in your router, consider getting another router that supports UPnP.

As to why, without using UPnP it is the only way to get more than game console working with only one router that has only public IP.

I suspect:

In your case while you do not have at least two game consoles, using UPnP is the only way to get more than one slingbox working.

The router is from AT&T and does not have UPnP, but I found a way to do this.

I gave each slingbox a static IP address. For the first I used the default system to create port forwarding. The standard, listed name knows to use port 5001. For the second, I created a new, custom application with a new name assigned to the secondary port number (5003). That worked. I guess slingbox does not really need a specific application name to work, just the ability to direct the outside user to the correct port. All is well. Thanks for your reply.  :)

That was only my educated guess, and you proved me wrong.

Good job on that and getting it working. :)
